My name is Ella Belle Norrell.  I came to live with Ginny and the boys in May.  The Calhoun Humane Society rescued me
after I was picked up by Animal Control in the parking lot of El Patio, mom's favorite restaurant.  She said it was fate
(what's fate?). Rob picked me up while she was at work.  I'm a Mother's Day present.  She was so happy to find me in the
house when she got home that she yelled my name out.  I got really scared and ran off, but then she picked me up and I
was all right.

I love it here.  We get two meals a day and lots and lots of puppy snacks and ice in our water bowl.  I get to go in the
backyard with my older brother, Harley, and we dig up all kinds of bugs and roll in them and sometimes eat them.  We have
to be careful not to get caught because we'll get scolded for digging.

Harley is also teaching me to chase the squirrels up in the trees.  It's great fun.  Teddy and I bark at the cows when
they come down the pasture.  We make them run off.  When we're in the house, we wrestle and play tug-of-war with all of
our toys.  Teddy loves to play chase.  Sometimes I even let him catch up to me.

There's also an old kitty that lives here and she used to share her food with me, but she has wised up and eats it all at
one time now.  When I came here, I only weighed 4.9 pounds.  I now weigh almost six pounds.  Mommy bought me a new pink
and green collar with white polka dots on it.  She says I look really pretty in it.  I like to snuggle her in the morning.
She gives me tummy rubs before we get out of bed.

Oh, I almost forgot!! We get to go for a ride every evening in the golf cart.  Bailey & Jake, the neighbor dogs, come out
and we all get treats from Rob.  He calls me baby girl and mommy calls me Elle Bear or just Elle sometimes.   He holds me
a lot too.  I like it.  Just wanted to let you know I was here.  I'm off to chase a squirrel or two, then maybe take a nap.
Ta Ta!!!

Lots of puppy kisses & love,
Ella Belle Norrell

In June my husband and I adopted Rex (renamed Gus) after the passing of our 12
year old Jack Russell Terrier, simply named, Jack.  As my husband and I were
overcoming his death, our adolescent Bluetick Coonhound, Blu, was not.  We
watched him aimlessly walk around the house for days.  It was obvious something
needed to change.  We decided he needed a playmate and a new running buddy.
We needed to bring new life to the house.  After seeing photos of Gus, I knew I
couldn't pass him up!  He was sturdy enough to withstand the clumsiness of Blu,
then 11 months and nearly 70 lbs.  The first day home, Gus and Blu had an instant
connection and got to playing.  We were so thankful it was a smooth transition!

Gus has been a complete delight and has brought all of us, Blu included, out of our
"slump" from loosing Jack to cancerous Mast Cell Tumors.  Gus has got to be the
funniest, most entertaining and mischievous dog I have every had.  He quickly took
the alpha male role, being the oldest. Blu fell right in line welcoming the direction!
Blu has always been a very vocal hound, as he's bred to do so and comes from a
long line of successful hunters.  Gus quickly learned that if we wanted something, he
had to be equally vocal.  To listen to them "talk" back and forth and to the taunting
cats, is hilarious!  He was a perfect fit and a welcomed addition! Thank you for such a
fantastic experience and companion.

This is a picture of our family.  This is Lady
(used to be Breeze) and
Honey. This is their
first Christmas and they already have
presents under the tree and in their stockings.
They have both been great and we love them
to pieces.  Lady is extremely hyper and Honey
is still a little shy, but has changed so much.
She loves to jump up on our sides and make
sure we pet her head. Lady just loves the
attention. Their favorite thing to do is come
inside and sleep in their warm beds.
Occasionally, you can hear Honey snoring
and Lady thumping her tail.  They both are a
blessing to us and keep us smiling everyday.
Bella's first Christmas with
her new family which also
includes "resident canine"
Chulo.
(Another one of those 'testimonials' we just LOVE to receive):
I just had to let you know what a wonderful cat Zoltan is. He has
turned out to be quite playful, not just a lounger. His personality is
one of a kind. If he isn't doing back flips playing with his toys, he is
snuggled up in someone's lap. He is truly a blessing to my family.
He fits in like he has been with us forever. We are so happy to have
him. We have given him a little nickname. You see, Zoltan has a
little obsession with the bath tub. He likes to lay in it.... If you are in
the tub, he plays with your bubbles. He is not scared of the water at
all. It is so cute. So the girls call him Bubbles sometimes. He is the
perfect teddy bear to snuggle with now that the weather is cool too. I
did want to send some pictures of him. I already have a lot!!!
Thanks again for the our wonderful new family member.  We love
him.

How we love it when adopters "come back for
seconds!" First it was Blanca (now Rocker), left,
and then Whisper(now Molly), both solid white
with blue eyes. Whisper was very shy, but her
people were patient, and she has blossomed
into Top Cat and bonded with Rocker, "best
friends" as shown below. Both these beautiful
ladies are so lucky - they have each other
AND a
family that loves and appreciates them. It gets
no better than this!

Mr. Bojangles was our first "song and
dance man", sitting on back and tail,
clapping his paws together in front of his
face, very talkative fella. Then the most
wonderful thing happened when we took
him to PetSmart for the day and this
lovely woman who had adopted our
Hope 2 years ago, blind in one eye (now
spoiled rotten!), adopted Mr. B. We love it
when people "come back for seconds",
especially when they've taken an animal
before that's not physically perfect, saw
beneath the surface and got a gem and
so much love in return.
:-)   Joe's Got Snow!!!   And SEASONS!!!  :-)
Our Joe (center) hit the "Adoption Jackpot."  With us for
quite a while, no one ever gave up on him. He went to a
lab rescue group and was then adopted by a terrific
family in Connecticut who renamed him
Barnum. He is
being smothered with love and attention, gets to go on
hikes, wears a coat to keep him warm(that's his Santa
hat on the left) and has dog friends as well as lots of toys
but, most important of all, unrelenting love.
Remember Tess? She was fostered and
then adopted by a very wise woman who
has always had rescued dogs. Now
known as
Princess Emilie, she and
Darcy have a great social life  as they
go to doggy day care to meet other
dogs at BarkaritaVille, take long walks
and spend a lot of time being loved
and pampered. What a life!!!!

Was there ever a closer relationship between child and dog - OR a more
understanding dog than Stetson? We so enjoyed getting this note from the parents
recently:

"Thought you might enjoy this picture I took of Stetson & "his girl",
Treylyn.  Stetson has been part of our family for 1 year now.  As you
can see, life is quite good especially when you have the love of a 7
year old who loves to play dress up with you.  Stetson is wearing
Treylyn's snuggie.  They were pretending it was his bathrobe.  Stetson
also substitutes as a horse for her American girl dolls.  He still
sleeps with Treylyn every night.  As he has grown, he tends to take up
more of the bed."

Hi there! My name is Parker and  I've
been very busy checking out everything
and helping my new Mom any way I can.
We just finished digging up roots and
playing in dirt out front! This long tether
let me be right in it all with Mom. I  love
new stuffed toys.  I learned to "sit" really
fast, those treats are to die for, pout for,
look sad for...Mom says dog obedience
class starts Monday, wonder what that
is. We take long walks just fine...but hey,
if we're together it will be great! So far I
have one rule: Never be still for a good
cell phone photo shoot and try really
hard to climb on Mom at that moment!
